The control system is at the heart of every Tunnel Washer. It manages the washing process, coordinates the movement of batches through the different chambers and connects the Tunnel Washer with the surrounding equipment.

A Tunnel Washer consists of multiple chambers, each with its own function within the washing process. The control system coordinates these different stages and ensures that every batch follows the correct program and process settings.

Depending on the Tunnel Washer and configuration, the control can manage water levels, temperatures, process times, water flows and the transfer of batches from one chamber to the next.

Different washing programs can be configured for specific articles and customers, allowing the process parameters to be adapted to the type of linen being processed.

By combining accurate process control with SensoSuite, operators have a clear overview of the washing process and can easily monitor and adjust the relevant settings.

Water & Chemical Dosing

Efficient use of water and precise process control

Water management is an important part of the Tunnel Washer process. The control system manages water levels, filling and water transfers between the different stages of the washing process according to the selected program.

Chemical dosing can be controlled directly from the Tunnel Washer Control or integrated with an external dosing system. Where required, Senso Technics provides the communication between the Tunnel Washer and third-party dosing equipment.

By bringing water management, dosing and washing programs together within the control process, each batch receives the required treatment while operators maintain a clear overview in SensoSuite.

Communication & Integration

Connecting the Tunnel Washer with the complete laundry process

A Tunnel Washer does not operate as an isolated machine. To keep batches moving efficiently, the control system exchanges information with the equipment before and after the washing process.

Depending on the installation, communication can include batch information, washing programs, machine status, ready signals and transfer signals. This allows the Tunnel Washer to work together with Sorting Systems, Monorail Systems, Presses, Shuttles and other Transport Systems.

Senso Technics can integrate new and existing equipment from different manufacturers, creating reliable communication between the individual process steps.

Together with SensoSuite, this provides one connected environment for process control, batch tracking and visualisation.

Retrofit of Existing Tunnel Washers

Modern Controls while retaining what still works

An existing Tunnel Washer can often remain mechanically operational for many years, while its control hardware and software become outdated or difficult to support. In these situations, a retrofit can extend the lifetime of the machine without requiring complete replacement.

Senso Technics assesses the existing installation and determines which components can remain in use and which parts should be modernised. Depending on the condition of the Tunnel Washer, this can include replacing the PLC, I/O, control hardware and software while retaining suitable mechanical and electrical components.

The new Control is integrated with SensoSuite and can be connected to existing and new equipment around the Tunnel Washer. This gives an existing machine a modern control environment and prepares it for future changes within the laundry process.
