End of Life
Increasingly, ‘Engineeringshop.nl’ is being asked for articles which are taken out of production for a while. Often, it concerns products for applications which do not run.
If production fails to run, it amounts to thousands of euros per day.
End of life does not have to be a problem. Some suppliers have backwards compatible products which can replace the old model easily, sometimes with a small adaptation. But sometimes, products are less easy to exchange. In that case, a new development is needed, the program has to be converted and adaptations are required.
If your machine, even if very small, does not work, it is the weakest link in your process and your production will stagnate.
In the end, thinking about spare parts, software backups and probably a redesign of your machine, will save you costs.
